Beth has been working in personal injury law firms since she was 15 years old and has worked in every position a law firm has to offer. While working as a litigation paralegal, she realized she herself wanted to become a trial attorney and put herself through undergrad and law school. She is the daughter of a retired U.S. Marine and stands as a proud supporter of our troops and their families. She has been fortunate to work with her mother, Cheryl Leone, also a former Marine and who has been in law firm administration for over 40 years. Beth and Cheryl own their own law firm management and consulting company, Catalyst Group, which works with other law firms on a national level. She is married to Shawn Noble, Ph.D. who does Market Research for John Deere. Beth and Shawn are proud parents to their daughter Parker and two rambunctious dogs, Atticus and Scout.
Q: Have long have you been practicing law?
A: Since 1998. I founded LN&S with Jennifer Seate on 12/4/2006.
Q: Why did you decide to become a lawyer?
A: When I was 15 years old, I started working in a personal injury law firm, running errands and filing. I gravitated to the litigation, and ultimately became a senior litigation paralegal. I was happy being a paralegal (sort of the power behind the throne) until the summer of 1990 when I had the chance to sit in on a medical malpractice trial in Wilmington, North Carolina that lasted three weeks. It involved two twins who were delivered prematurely and developed cerebral palsy as a result. Those three weeks were exhausting and mentally draining but it was then that I knew I wanted to be a trial lawyer, the one out front fighting for the everyday people. Now, almost 20 years later, I own my own law firm that is dedicated to helping defend people’s rights. It is an overwhelming experience to have the ability and power to positively affect peoples’ lives and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Q: What led you to found LN&S?
A: When we started LN&S, we wanted to create a firm that would set itself apart from the norm. We are still a firm in the making, but we believe we have the right formula: Client Service + Quality Work = Job Well Done
Q: What are the most important values you believe are necessary for the firm?
A: There are many values that would describe our firm, but I think the two that stand out the most are Compassion and Hard Work. The compassion we feel for our clients in turns fuels the hard work that we do for them. As managing partner, I like to see myself as the driving force behind our team. It is my job to challenge and encourage everyone to be the best that they can be.
Q: Describe your family.
A: Hmmm… my family? My parents are the two biggest influences in my life, and for different reasons. My mom showed me, as a woman, that I had no barriers in front of me and could be anything I wanted to be. My father, a retired U.S. Marine, taught me core values of integrity, courage and teamwork. My life was turned upside down (in the best of ways) when I met and married my husband, Shawn. He has his Ph.D. and works for Lenovo in Market Research. We finally added to our family in 2014 by adopting our wonderful daughter Parker. We still have two wonderful dogs, Scout and Atticus. (Can you tell my favorite book is To Kill a Mockingbird?).
Q: How do you like to spend your personal time away from the firm?
A: I love spending time with my family and my dogs. My husband and I are avid sports fans (although we don’t cheer for the same teams) so on any given weekend, we are usually watching some game or another. I’m a rabid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Penguins. Shawn roots for the Cowboys—leading to some “friendly” rivalry! I also volunteer for the Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue and enjoy spending time helping find wonderful homes for Goldens.
Q: What are your major practice areas?
A: I am a trial attorney by nature and I tried my first jury trial 3 days after being sworn in as an attorney (and I won!!!). I’m a graduate of Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyers College and get a genuine thrill from talking to a jury. However currently, my days are mostly spent advising my partner Jennifer Seate on an as needed basis. I have been blessed to write romance novels now.
Q: Favorite TV Show or Movie?
A: Okay, I admit it… Buffy the Vampire Slayer is my all time favorite TV show. In addition to the excellent comedic writing and fantastic martial arts, I feel akin to Buffy’s strong character in the face of adversity.
Q: What would you like your legacy to be?
A: I would like to be remembered as someone who truly cared about people.
