Raleigh Students Compete in Mock Trial Competition

Attorney Mike Rothrock of the law firm Leone Noble & Seate, L.L.P. recently participated as an attorney adviser for Enloe High School in the NCAJ High School Mock Trial Competition held on February 1, 2014. Mr. Rothrock coached two teams from Enloe High School who competed in the Raleigh regional competition.

The competition is sponsored by the North Carolina Advocates for Justice and the Carolina Center for Civic Education. It is a state-wide educational program that seeks to educate North Carolina High School students about our system of justice and trial by jury by turning courtrooms into classrooms and connecting students with attorneys and judges. Students learn valuable skills, such as public speaking, teamwork and leadership, which can translate into any career.

This was Mr. Rothrock’s fifth academic year as attorney advisor for Enloe High School. His teams took home two Best Witness and three Best Attorney awards between them. Students from Enloe High School have traditionally received these awards in each of the past five years of competition.

Mr. Rothrock heads up the firm’s personal injury litigation division, but also devotes part of his time and practice to various activities that further public education regarding the legal profession. “I think it’s the responsibility of lawyers to give back to their communities and help educate the public about the legal process and system,” said Mr. Rothrock of his desire to volunteer his time to these types of activities. He also works with Capital Area Teen Court, and recently was selected as one of the “Top 40 under 40” in litigation by the American Society of Legal Advocates.
